Department of Physics

The Department of Physics, one of the richest faculty of the college, was established in the year 1962 and started General Course (then 2 year Pass Course) from the session 1962-63. Honors degree course was started during the session 1972-73. The faculty members impart the study of this basic science subject in a very befitting and advanced manner. The department has its own Overhead Projector and LCD Projector facility. Audio-visual system is often used during the lecture periods in order to give the students a real and up to date essence of the subject. Multimedia Projections are also used during the Computer and Electronics practical classes. Students get ample opportunity of practice in well-equipped laboratory under the sincere guidance of the teachers with effective assistance from non-teaching staff members. Sufficient computers are provided for practical project-works in 3rd year Honors and General classes. Activities like organization of students seminar and quiz, publications of wall magazine etc. are among the regular academic features of the department. Most of the faculty members have state-of-the-art research experience in India and abroad. Some of them are engaged in high quality research with various research Grants. Also, the faculty members have performed research under UGC sponsored Minor Research Scheme. Recently, the department has organized a state level seminar to celebrate the International Year of Physics (2005).
